Current Deacons
Deacons were appointed by the Creswell Presbyterian Church in 2006 to be a vessel of God’s love and care by being the go-to person for church families during both time of celebration and difficulty. Each deacon is the point of contact for about 6-15 church families. Deacons strive to create a relationship with their church families (we call them “our flock”) so that in time of celebration, illness, or crises someone from the church, besides the pastor, is there to rally and provide support. Deacons coordinate meals, rides, visits to shut-ins, and often share in life’s celebrations—special church events, weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. The best way to report on the work of the deacons is to ask church members who have struggles with a long illness, aloneness, accident, hospitalization, bereavement, or other difficult life situations to describe the role their deacon has played in their time of need. We aren’t there every time for everyone, we’re still learning, but we hope we have been able to share God’s love in some small way with many.
